Basketball Recap: Emporia Takes a Loss

Emporia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 66-12 loss at the hands of the Hays Indians. The matchup marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Emporia's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Hays, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emporia will challenge Washburn Rural on Friday. Washburn Rural's defense has only allowed 28.2 points per game this season, so Emporia's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Hays, they are taking a road trip to square off against Garden City at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. One thing working in Hays' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
