Preview: Ellenville Blue Devils vs. Rondout Valley Ganders
Ellenville has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Rondout Valley Ganders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ellenville's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matches.
Last Friday, Ellenville was fully in charge, breezing past Tri-Valley 46-6 at home.
Jacob Wright was his usual excellent self, rushing for 285 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.8 yards per carry. Wright hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Dylan Nero also helped out as he racked up 100 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Rondout Valley never let their opponents score on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Livingston Manor-Roscoe Central.
Ellenville now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Rondout Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Ellenville didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Rondout Valley in their previous matchup two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 40-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ellenville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
