Basketball Recap: Garey Takes a Loss

The Garey Vikings were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 63-59 to the Torres Toros. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Garey still got an impressive performance from Miguel Flores, who went 9-for-10 on his way to 22 points and five rebounds. Flores has become a key player for the Vikings: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 15 points, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Esteban Ruvalcaba, who posted 15 points.

Garey's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Torres, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Looking ahead, Garey will head out to square off against Pacific at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Torres, they will be home for the holidays to greet University Prep Value at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
