Volleyball Recap: Elder Falls Short Against Ranked St. Xavier

Elder faced St. Xavier in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Panthers came up short against the Bombers, falling 3-0. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

While Elder had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19, 25-21.

St. Xavier was led to victory by Max Stewart and Cam Evans. Stewart had nine digs, while Evans had 45 assists and six digs. Evans is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 35 or more in each of the last five games he's played.

Elder's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for St. Xavier, they pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Elder will challenge Bishop Fenwick at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Xavier, they will face off against Walnut Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
