Basketball Recap: Kennesaw Mountain Comes Up Short

Kennesaw Mountain came up into this matchup off a tough 48-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Villa Rica Wildcats by a score of 39-37 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered since December 17, 2024.

Despite the loss, Kennesaw Mountain still got an impressive performance from Mfreke Johnson, who posted 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Johnson has posted since back in November of 2024. Jordyn Cowan was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Kennesaw Mountain's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Villa Rica, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-14.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Lithia Springs the next time they take the court. Villa Rica will head out to face Lithia Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Kennesaw Mountain will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
