Recap: Village Vikings vs. Antonian Prep Apaches
After a string of three wins, the Village Vikings's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 61-42 bruising from Antonian Prep. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Village in their matchups with Antonian Prep: they've now lost four in a row.
Village's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mila Rossini, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 50% of Village's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaniya Williams, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Antonian Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyzarriah Fox out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Fox is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shaniyah Fox, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds.
Village's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-8. As for Antonian Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Village's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Concordia Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Concordia Lutheran is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Antonian Prep, they will be playing at home against St. Agnes Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
