Softball Game Preview: Clinton Arrows vs. Madison Central Jaguars

The Clinton Arrows will venture away from home to face off against the Madison Central Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clinton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Clinton's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Newton County by a score of 4-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Arrows.

Not much got past Annalise Whitworth, who gave up just a hit to keep Newton County off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Destiny Funchess, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Gholar, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Madison Central faced Northwest Rankin in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Jaguars fell 8-3 to the Cougars. The Jaguars have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Clinton now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Madison Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Clinton came out on top in a nail-biter against Madison Central in their previous matchup on Thursday, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Arrows since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
