Soccer Game Preview: San Marcos vs. Canyon

The San Marcos Rattlers are taking a road trip to face off against the Canyon Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Last Friday, San Marcos came up short against Steele and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Knights are ranked 96th).

Meanwhile, Canyon also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Steele by a score of 3-1.

This is the second loss in a row for San Marcos and nudges their season record down to 7-11-2. As for Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6-5.

San Marcos took their victory against Canyon in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 7-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Marcos since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
