Softball Recap: Surry Central Comes Up Short

Surry Central entered their game against West Wilkes on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Surry Central came up short against West Wilkes, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blackhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 last Tuesday.

Surry Central saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layla Wall, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Cameron Cruise also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Surry Central now has a losing record of 3-4. As for West Wilkes, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Surry Central Golden Eagles take on Wilkes Central Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Surry Central is facing Wilkes Central at the right time seeing as Wilkes Central is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for West Wilkes, they will face off against Forbush at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
