The Old Town Coyotes will challenge the Belfast Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Old Town will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Old Town is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Caribou on Wednesday as they made off with a 13-3 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Julian Duty was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Old Town let Nate Baker and Alex McCannell run wild. Baker went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles, while McCannell went 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those three hits gave McCannell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Osnoe, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Old Town kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Belfast had just enough and edged out Mount View 3-2 last Tuesday.
Hayden Brimer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Brimer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-6 with two stolen bases and one run.
Brimer wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Lindelof, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. Luke Littlefield was another, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Belfast's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Old Town, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Old Town has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Belfast struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Old Town was able to grind out a solid win over Belfast in their previous matchup back in June of 2016, winning 3-0. Do the Coyotes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
