Volleyball Game Preview: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. Carlsbad Lancers

The Del Norte Nighthawks are taking a road trip to take on the Carlsbad Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Del Norte has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Carlsbad will come in with 14 straight victories.

On Wednesday, Del Norte came up short against Torrey Pines and fell 3-1. While the Nighthawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Falcons 25-21 in the first set.

Del Norte started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad faced Torrey Pines in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Falcons.

Carlsbad got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-14, 31-29.

Del Norte's defeat dropped their record down to 18-15. As for Carlsbad, they pushed their record up to 29-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Del Norte suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Carlsbad when the teams last played back in March. Can the Nighthawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
