There's no place like home for Fort Bend Kempner, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Mustangs last Tuesday, they had to take a 7-2 defeat.

Fort Bend Kempner got a great performance from Adrian Guevara as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nik Hellriegel, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Alex Lara also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Fort Bend Kempner has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-12-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Lamar Consolidated, their loss dropped their record down to 5-16.

Looking ahead, Fort Bend Kempner will be playing in front of their home fans against Manvel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mavericks have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Lamar Consolidated, they are taking a road trip to take on Randle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
