Basketball Recap: UIC College Prep Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

UIC College Prep extended their road winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Christopher Thomas. The UIC College Prep Firecats came out on top against the Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus Ravens by a score of 55-43 on Monday thanks to Thomas, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 17 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

The team also got some help courtesy of James Hodrick, who went 5-for-9 en route to 11 points. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage.

Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus' loss came despite strong showings from Cedrick Carter and Rejivieon Hudson. Carter almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards, while Hudson posted 15 points and four steals. Carter is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last 50 games he's played dating back to last season. Antione Lavender was another key player, putting up four points and five rebounds.

UIC College Prep has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus and nudges their season record down to 20-7.

UIC College Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-44 loss against Northside on the 19th. As for Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus, they have also already played their next game, a 66-50 victory against Kennedy on the 20th.
