Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Swink's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

The Swink Lions got the win against the Hoehne Farmers on Thursday by a conclusive 13-3. Considering the Lions have won seven matches by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Noah Pearson was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Landon Mills was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Swink's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Luke Hanagan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Swink always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Swink has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Hoehne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hoehne beat Swink by a score of 6-4 later that day.
