Basketball Recap: Izabela Schumacher's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wheeler over Griffith

It was a proper cat-fight when Wheeler took on Griffith on Tuesday. The Wheeler Bearcats took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffith Panthers. The Bearcats just can't catch a break and have now endured seven losses in a row.

Several Bearcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Izabela Schumacher, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynne Jolliff, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Griffith got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Olivia Esquivel out in front who scored ten points along with five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Briana Esquivel, who put up seven points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Griffith, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-9.

Wheeler wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-36 win against Boone Grove on the 16th. Griffith has also already played their next game (against Knox), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
