Baseball Recap: North Decatur's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

North Decatur let Rising Sun stack five runs on them in the fifth inning on Saturday but luckily North Decatur prevailed anyway. The Chargers had just enough and edged out the Shiners 6-5. That's more bragging rights for the Chargers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Matthew Fields, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Kamdenn McKinney also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

North Decatur was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory was the third in a row for North Decatur, bringing their record up to 11-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Rising Sun, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Decatur will take on South Decatur at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
