Recap: Marion-Franklin Red Devils vs. Granville Blue Aces
The Marion-Franklin Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 79-60 bruising from Granville. While losing is never fun, Marion-Franklin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while the Blue Aces are ranked 209th).
Marion-Franklin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Terry Black, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Black has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Makhi Ali was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Marion-Franklin now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Granville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion-Franklin and the Scots will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Walnut Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the Red Devils likes a good challenge. As for Granville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Redskins at 7:15 p.m.
