Basketball Recap: Robinson Takes a Loss

Robinson and Jarrell squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Robinson had to settle for second. They fell 50-42 to the Jarrell Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 479th, while the Cougars are ranked 233rd).

Jarrell found their leader in sophomore Aniya Taylor, who posted 20 points. The contest was Taylor's 19th in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Erica Taylor, who put up 11 points and three steals.

Robinson is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-14. As for Jarrell, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 29-6 record this season.

Robinson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jarrell, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars challenge the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Smithville comes in on four and Jarrell on seven.
