Baseball Recap: Marked Tree Comes Up Short

Marked Tree had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-5 to make it five. They came up short against the Trumann Wildcats, falling 18-6. The Indians were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

As for Trumann, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games.

For Trumann's part, Peyton Chaffin looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Chaffin has posted since back in April of 2025.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Drake Harlow, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bradon Whitsett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Marked Tree has already played their next game (against Rivercrest), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Trumann, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Hoxie at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.2 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
