Basketball Recap: Monterey Takes a Loss

Monterey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Clay County Bulldogs, falling 73-49. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-39 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Monterey lost, don't look at Garrett Wessels. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 16 en route to 24 points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Reams, who posted five points.

Monterey's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Clay County, their record is now 7-4.

Monterey has already played their next game, a 51-43 loss against Van Buren County on the 1st. Clay County has also already played their next match (against Clarkrange), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
