Basketball Recap: Bishop Gorman Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Bishop Gorman Gaels were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-48 to the Grandview Wolves. The Gaels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Bishop Gorman lost, don't look at Aaliah Spaight. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. Spaight has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played. Kenzee Holton was another key player, putting up 13 points and four steals.

Leading Grandview to victory were Sienna Betts and Ava Chang. Betts dropped a double-double on 22 points and 20 boards, while Chang went 8 of 13 on her way to 22 points along with seven boards and three steals. What's more, Betts also racked up six steals, the most she's had since back in January. Leiava Holliman was another key player, posting two points and three steals.

Bishop Gorman's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Grandview, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Bishop Gorman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-7 victory against Desert Oasis on the 11th. As for Grandview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-46 win against South Grand Prairie on the 7th.
