Basketball Recap: Cleveland Now 17-3 over Last 20 Games

Cleveland won the last time they faced Ooltewah and things went their way on Monday too. Everything went the Cleveland Blue Raiders' way against the Ooltewah Owls as the Cleveland Blue Raiders made off with a 64-40 win. The Blue Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 21 points or more this season.

Cleveland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lauren Hurst, who shot 46% from the field on her way to 16 points along with five boards and five blocks. Hurst is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 46% in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Smith, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Cleveland was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They are 21-3 when they've passed the ball that well.

Despite the defeat, Ooltewah saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aleigha Taylor posted 20 points. What's more, Taylor also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Allie Tipton was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Cleveland has been performing well recently as they've won 17 of their last 20 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points over those games. Ooltewah dropped their record down to 16-17 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Cleveland has already played their next contest, a 79-23 defeat against Bradley Central on the 5th. Ooltewah does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
