La Joya took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Palmview, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. La Joya sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Palmview on Wednesday. Five seems to be a good number for the Coyotes as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Hunter Morales looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Samuel De Leon, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Marron, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

La Joya is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. With the defeat, Palmview broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-5.

Looking ahead, La Joya will take on Weslaco at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Weslaco's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so La Joya's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Palmview, they have already played their next game, a 14-1 win against Rio Grande City on the 21st.
