Basketball Game Preview: Freedom Prep Academy Eagles vs. Escalante Moquis

The Freedom Prep Academy Eagles will challenge the Escalante Moquis at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Wednesday, Freedom Prep Academy strolled past Telos with points to spare, taking the game 55-41. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won six in a row.

Jonas Sosa had an outrageously good game as he went 8-for-17 to rack up 24 points in addition to six boards and three steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Black, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Freedom Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Escalante had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 60-32 victory over Mount Vernon. With the Moquis ahead 39-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Freedom Prep Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Escalante, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Freedom Prep Academy was taken down by Escalante 69-34 in their previous meeting back in January. Thankfully for the Eagles, Rayce Jenkins (who earned 29 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
