Baseball Recap: Klein Forest Takes a Loss

Klein Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 8-2 to the Tomball Memorial Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 last Tuesday.

Erick Garcia was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Klein Forest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kai Juarez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Juarez has posted since back in February.

Klein Forest's loss dropped their record down to 3-16-1. As for Tomball Memorial, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-10-1.

Coming up, Klein Forest will be playing in front of their home fans against Magnolia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Magnolia's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Klein Forest's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tomball Memorial, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Tomball Memorial Wildcats face off against Klein Collins Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Klein Collins will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Tomball Memorial surely won't give up without a fight.
