Baseball Recap: Xavier Prep's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Xavier Prep's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Chaminade Eagles a 3-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Saints as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Zain Valdivia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Xavier Prep is 7-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise. Valdivia was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Valdivia wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Julian Angulo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. Nathan Legarreta was another, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Xavier Prep's record is now 10-11. As for Chaminade, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Xavier Prep will challenge Shadow Hills at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chaminade, they will take on Newbury Park in a tournament on Wednesday.
