Recap: Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars vs. Gibbs Gladiators
The Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 42-33 to Gibbs on Friday. Academy of the Holy Names lost against Gibbs in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 55-46 score last time.
Morgan Hunt and Lucy Morey certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hunt scored 13 points along with seven rebounds, while Morey scored six points along with five assists and four steals. Morey is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Academy of the Holy Names' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-3. As for Gibbs, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy of the Holy Names will be home for the holidays to greet Riverview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 278th, while Academy of the Holy Names is ranked 49th). Gibbs will be home for the holidays to greet Plant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Plant focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
