Football Recap: Carter Green Hornets vs. Fulton Falcons
Carter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fulton Falcons. The Green Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.
Several Green Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jody Scruggs, who picked up 94 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Scruggs also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (2.0 for loss). Joseph Armenta was in the mix too, providing Carter with two touchdowns.
Carter wouldn't let Fulton keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Carter can thank Asaiah Burton and Armenta for forcing both of them. Carter got some further help from Hayden Simmons: he made 12 total tackles and snagged an interception.
Albert Johnson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 308 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry for Fulton. Johnson's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of ReJuan Womble, who picked up 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Carter's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Fulton, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Carter didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 49-14 victory against Seymour on the 31st. As for Fulton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 35-6 defeat against Gibbs on the 31st.
