Basketball Game Preview: Enumclaw Hornets vs. Lakes Lancers

The Enumclaw Hornets will challenge the Lakes Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Enumclaw will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Enumclaw will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating White River, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Enumclaw managed a 56-52 victory over White River last Thursday.

Enumclaw got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Girias out in front who shot 50% from the field on her way to 17 points and five boards. Girias' big performance that evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Kaidyn Johnson was another key player, putting up seven points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lakes beat Silas 53-47 on Friday.

Lakes' win came from a few key players that Enumclaw will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ehmarii McChristian, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 16 points and four steals. She has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Juliana Gocha, who shot 50% from the field en route to 12 points and eight boards.

Lakes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 25 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Lakes' victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Enumclaw, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Enumclaw hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56.2 points per game. However, it's not like Lakes struggles in that department as they've been averaging 56.7 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.

Enumclaw beat Lakes 54-42 in their previous matchup back in January of 2016. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
