Recap: Niwot Cougars vs. Denver North Vikings
The Niwot Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 24-14 to Denver North. Niwot lost against Denver North in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 23-15 score last time.
Denver North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Frankie Dardano, who threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Gordon, who picked up 88 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Niwot has yet to win a match at home this season, leaving them with a 3-7 record. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Denver North, Riverdale Ridge, and Frederick. As for Denver North, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Niwot does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Denver North will head out on the road to face off against Holy Family at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Family is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
