Basketball Recap: Kamiyah Dabner Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Annandale

There's no place like home for Mount Vernon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They took down the Annandale Atoms 57-39 on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 63-24 back in January.

Mount Vernon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from KaMiyah Dabner, who posted 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. Mount Vernon is undefeated when Dabner posts three or more steals, but 6-9 otherwise. Rachael Sykes was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and ten boards.

Mount Vernon's record now sits at 12-9. As for Annandale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.

Mount Vernon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Annandale, they will face off against Hayfield at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hayfield has five straight wins, Annandale has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
