Preview: Richmond Red Devils vs. Northside L Lions
The Richmond Red Devils will be home for the holidays to greet the Northside L Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Richmond put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 65-35 win over Connersville on the road. Given Richmond's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Connersville is ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Cedric Horton, who scored 22 points. The game was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Ryder Cate was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Northside L scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They breezed by Miami Valley HomeSchool at home to the tune of 87-23. That 87-23 margin sets a new team best for Northside L this season.
Northside L's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but JOEY HEASTON led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five assists. The match was HEASTON's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of DUKE KARNES, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.
Richmond's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Northside L, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Richmond hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 75.8 points per game. However, it's not like Northside L struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 68.5 points per game. The only thing between Richmond and another offensive beatdown is Northside L.
