Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sulphur). Their defense stepped up to hand the McLoud Redskins a 60-0 shutout on Friday. The Bulldogs' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Sulphur got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kale Brakefield out in front who threw for 263 yards and four TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes. Brakefield is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Sulphur's leading receiver Maddax Mobly was Brakefield's top target yet again, picking up 189 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Carter Cole, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Sulphur's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cooper Cole, Kash Pickett, and George Martinez, who each picked up one sack apiece. Sulphur received some extra help from Mobly, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Sulphur's record now sits at 5-0. As for McLoud, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Sulphur will be playing in front of their home fans against Lone Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McLoud, they will take on Victory Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Redskins will be up against the Conquerors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.4 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
