Volleyball Recap: Elizabeth Cardinals vs. Canon City Tigers

Elizabeth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Canon City Tigers. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Elizabeth started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 22-25, 29-27, 25-14, 15-10.

Campbell Dickman paced Elizabeth's offense, picking up 12 kills. Dickman got some help from Ann Jones and her 32 assists. Kimber Heideman controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Elizabeth's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Canon City, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elizabeth will challenge Pueblo East at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Canon City, they will square off against Pueblo Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
