Soccer Game Preview: Tallwood vs. First Colonial

Tallwood is 0-9 against First Colonial since May of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Lions will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against the Patriots at 5:15 p.m. Tallwood's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Things were looking good for Tallwood after they put the first goal on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Ocean Lakes by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, Tallwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Ocean Lakes are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, First Colonial had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They and Cox finished up their match with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday. The result (or lack thereof) marked First Colonial's first draw of the season.

First Colonial's draw gives them a new season record of 2-3-1. As for Tallwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Tallwood suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to First Colonial when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
