Basketball Recap: West Charlotte Skates Past Chambers with Ease

West Charlotte hadn't done well against Chambers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The West Charlotte Lions blew past the Chambers Cougars 75-34. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

West Charlotte was led to victory by Bri'Asia Rowe and Jonnae Bennett. Rowe went 9 for 14 on her way to 22 points in addition to seven boards and six blocks, while Bennett went 7 of 11 on her way to 21 points and five steals. The matchup was Rowe's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chakira Generette, who posted eight points in addition to six assists and five boards.

West Charlotte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

West Charlotte's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Chambers, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.

West Charlotte and Chambers could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. West Charlotte (ranked 122nd) will meet North Mecklenburg (ranked tenth) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Chambers (ranked 358th) will meet Mallard Creek (ranked ninth) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
