The University Prep Panthers will take on the Colusa RedHawks at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
University Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Durham, sneaking past 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Rylynn Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Addison Petty and Abigail Lewis did most of the damage at the plate: Petty went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run, while Lewis went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Colusa got the win against Winters on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-2. Considering the RedHawks have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Colusa also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Bella Romero gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits. Romero has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 24 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Peyton Miller was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Santana, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
University Prep's record now sits at 12-16. As for Colusa, their record is now 17-11-1.
University Prep skirted past Colusa 8-7 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
