Recap: Carter Green Hornets vs. Gibbs Eagles

If the Carter Green Hornets were feeling good off their 73-47 takedown of the Jellico Blue Devils on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Carter took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gibbs on Thursday. Carter has not had much luck with Gibbs recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Several Green Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ivey Jones, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Lampkin, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.

Carter has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Gibbs, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.

Carter won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Jefferson County on December 29, 2023. Jefferson County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Carter in Tennessee (Jefferson County is ranked 95th, while Carter is ranked 287th). Gibbs and Powell will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
