Soccer Game Preview: Aubrey Rogers vs. Gateway

The Aubrey Rogers Patriots will challenge the Gateway Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Aubrey Rogers turned things around against Estero last Friday. Neither they nor the Wildcats could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The result was nothing new for the Patriots as the squad haven't won a game since November 6th.

Their goal came courtesy of Dillen Hamm, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Gateway after they claimed the first goal last Friday, however, they wouldn't score again. They fell 3-1 to Palmetto Ridge.

Aubrey Rogers' draw gives them a new season record of 1-6-4. As for Gateway, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 1-1-1 and their overall record down to 9-4-3.

Aubrey Rogers came up short against Gateway when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 3-1. Can Aubrey Rogers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
