Basketball Recap: Eastlake Comes Up Short

Eastlake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 82-37 loss at the hands of the Victory Christian Academy Knights. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-15.

Victory Christian Academy was led to victory by Troy Tominna and Isaiah Owens. Tominna went 8 of 10 on his way to 19 points along with eight boards and four steals, while Owens almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Tominna has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Gray, who posted ten points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Eastlake's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Victory Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-12.

Eastlake will face off against Olympian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Olympian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season. As for Victory Christian Academy, they will challenge Mater Dei Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Victory Christian Academy is facing Mater Dei Catholic at the right time seeing as Mater Dei Catholic is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
