Soccer Game Preview: Waco vs. La Vernia

The Waco Lions will square off against the La Vernia Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a proper cat-fight when Waco challenged China Spring on Tuesday. Waco and China Spring finished up their game with a 4-4 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Lions' first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, La Vernia gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand Harlandale an 8-0 shutout.

Waco's draw makes their record 2-0-1 this season. As for La Vernia, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
