Basketball Recap: Coahoma Piles Up the Points Against Compass Academy

Coahoma waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They took their match with ease, bagging a 55-18 victory over Compass Academy. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Coahoma to victory were Baylor Wright and Madi Renteria. Wright went 7 of 16 en route to 15 points and five steals, while Renteria dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. That's the most steals Wright has posted since back in December of 2024. Bree Lewis was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Coahoma was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Compass Academy only posted five assists.

Several Compass Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ellyson Wright, who posted six points.

Coahoma's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4. As for Compass Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Coahoma didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-33 victory against Lamesa on the 17th. Compass Academy has also already played their next matchup, a 53-16 defeat against Crane on the 17th.
