Basketball Recap: Hanks Comes Up Short

Hanks was the 53-50 winner over Midland Legacy when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Hanks Knights fell 66-53 to the Midland Legacy Rebels on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 918th, while the Rebels are ranked 309th).

Diego Rodriguez was his usual excellent self, going 11 for 18 on his way to 29 points and five rebounds for Midland Legacy. The contest was Rodriguez's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Varion Starling, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds.

Hanks has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Midland Legacy, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Hanks didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-43 defeat against Burges on the 28th. As for Midland Legacy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-66 loss against Del Rio on the 28th.
