The Briarcliff Bears will head out on the road to take on the Haldane Blue Devils at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Briarcliff has three straight victories, Haldane has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Briarcliff had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt North Salem on Saturday. The Bears were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Tigers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 22, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Lucas Martinez was a major factor no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Briarcliff's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 3-4-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Max Amador was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Briarcliff always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Haldane came up short against Valhalla on Saturday and fell 7-2.
Haldane saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Theo Swan, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Briarcliff's record now sits at 8-5-1. As for Haldane, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
Everything went Briarcliff's way against Haldane when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Briarcliff made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
