Softball Recap: Trenton Beats Chiefland for Their Third Straight Win

Trenton entered their tilt with Chiefland on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 14-3 victory. Considering the Tigers have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

MacKenzie Fisher made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Trenton let Addilynn Welbers and Addison Allaire run wild. Welbers went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Allaire went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Welbers has posted since back in February. Madison Hinote was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Trenton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Trenton's record now sits at 15-2. As for Chiefland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Trenton has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Santa Fe on the 7th. As for Chiefland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Fort White on the 7th.
