Burroughs is 8-2 against Burbank since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Burroughs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Burroughs can't be too worried about heading out to take on Burbank: they just beat Thousand Oaks at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Bears skirted past the Lancers 3-2.
The team relied heavily on Chloe Centeno, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Karlee Earl, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Burroughs hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Burbank entered their tilt with Glendale on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Nitros with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Kayla Orozco made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Burbank got a massive performance out of Samantha Cafferty, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Cafferty a new career-high. Krystal Balderas also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Burroughs is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Burbank, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11-1.
Both Burroughs and Burbank just can't seem to miss. The Bears have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Burbank struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
