Recap: Kendrick Cherokees vs. Spencer Greenwave
The Kendrick Cherokees's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 15th straight loss. They were outmatched by Spencer at home and fell 68-16. Kendrick has not had much luck with Spencer recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Anaila Whitaker and Justina Vice certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Whitaker scored eight points along with eight blocks and six rebounds, while Vice scored two points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spencer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexandria Berk, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Berk has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Naomi Berk, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
Kendrick's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.8 points per game. As for Spencer, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kendrick will take on Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Spencer, they will head out on the road to face off against Rutland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
