Baseball Recap: New Albany Triumphs

While New Albany's victory against Columbus East wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Olympians 3-2. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Olympians recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Sean Rose spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tyler McMillen was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

New Albany's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Columbus East, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17.

Looking ahead, New Albany will welcome Silver Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Columbus East, they will square off against East Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Trojans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
