Preview: Cross Trojans vs. Military Magnet Academy Eagles
Cross is 2-8 against Military Magnet Academy since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cross Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Military Magnet Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Cross will stroll in with a nine game home winning streak, but they should still watch out: the last time they lost at home was their January 31 matchup with Military Magnet Academy.
In what's become a running theme this season, Cross gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 58-36 margin over St. John's. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Cross has posted since December 8, 2023.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Military Magnet Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 49-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Myers Park. The game was a 18-18 toss-up at halftime, but Military Magnet Academy was outscored by Myers Park in the second.
Despite the defeat, Military Magnet Academy had strong showings from Lauren Willis, who scored eight points along with five rebounds, and DaNariyah Williams, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Cross has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Military Magnet Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.
Cross was dealt a bruising 105-11 loss at the hands of Military Magnet Academy in their previous meeting on January 5th. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cross was down 53-7.
