Baseball Recap: Carlmont Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Carlmont ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Sacred Heart Prep Gators 6-5. For the Scots, this counts as revenge for the 4-0 victory the Gators walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Pano Koutoulas and Luke Tofigh did most of the damage at the plate: Koutoulas got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Tofigh went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Tofigh a new career-high. Zach Luzzo also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Carlmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Carlmont's record is now 11-12. As for Sacred Heart Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

Carlmont will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sacred Heart Prep: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
